Kingfisher plc, the international home improvement company, has joined Stonewall’s Global Diversity Champions programme. Kingfisher will work with Stonewall, the leading charity for lesbian, gay, bi and trans (LGBT) equality, to help us become more LGBT-inclusive across all of its operations. We also plan to participate in Stonewall’s Global Workplace Equality Index 2020.

This work will build on the networks set up by Kingfisher’s colleagues to champion LGBT inclusion across the business. By working with Stonewall, Kingfisher will be able to develop a more structured approach to supporting colleagues and ensuring everyone is able to be themselves at work.

Fiona Harris, Group Head of Inclusion and Wellness at Kingfisher, said: “We want colleagues and customers across Kingfisher and our businesses to feel respected and accepted no matter where in the world they work for or shop with us. And we want to be representative of the societies and communities from which we recruit and which we serve. Working with Stonewall will help us to develop equality initiatives across all of our markets to do just that.

“We have some brilliant colleagues at Kingfisher, and we want to support them fully and make sure their contribution is heard.”

Kingfisher’s LGBTQ+ Network commended

Kingfisher’s LGBTQ+ Network has been commended in the New Colleague Network of the Year award at the inaugural Rainbow Honours 2019. The category was looking for LGBTQ networks which have been operational for 12 months or less and which are already making a difference to the company's LGBTQ colleagues.

The Kingfisher LGBTQ+ Network is the first of our colleague inclusion networks. It has been set up and driven by our colleagues for colleagues and is a key catalyst on our journey to make Kingfisher a good home for everyone. The network has already, in its first year, brought together over 300 of our UK colleagues to start a dialogue on LGBTQ+ issues, supported the Stonewall EqualiTea event in the UK and supported B&Q* through its first ever entry for the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index. (*B&Q is a member of Stonewall in its own right).
