Bunnings Launches Millennial DIY Series
Bunnings has launched a nine-part series on YouTube called 'Make It Yours', which has been created to show consumers how they can renovate on a budget, even if they are renting.
The series is focused on younger consumers who typically live in smaller homes or might be renting property. Bunnings is keen to appeal to a changing customer base which is increasingly reluctant to undertake DIY projects but is technologically savvy.
In the last few weeks, Bunnings confirmed its intention to launch an online marketplace named MarketLink.
Earlier this year, Bunnings published the first edition of its free, monthly instore magazine for customers and, in June, revealed that it was to launch a transactional website by Christmas.
Bunnings explains: "Over 10 weeks, 13 of Australia’s favourite style creators will be totally transforming a small suburban house into a stylish do-it-yourself home. Style creators will work on one room a week, using nothing but their nifty know-how, some products from Bunnings and their canny eye for style to transform their space. Even if you’re renting, there’s absolutely no reason why you can’t Make It Yours."
Keith Murray, Bunnings' general manager, told InsiderRetail Australia: “We know that younger Australians see DIY differently, having less aptitude towards traditional DIY and are turning toward interior design trends and easy cosmetic upgrades to freshen up their homes,”
“Make It Yours will deliver DIY in a new format, showcasing how easy DIY can be on a modest budget and inspire the next generation of DIYers to create the home of their dreams, whether they are home-owners, long-term renters or personalising their space within the family home.”
