Bunnings Car Parks To Be Used As COVID-19 Testing Centres
Bunnings has confirmed that its store car parks will be used to conduct COVID-19 tests.
It is understood that the first pilot store is in West Footscray, Melbourne and will be followed by further stores in the city and wider Victoria region.
Bunnings is working to determine the most suitable sites after being approached by the Victorian Government to support the testing programme.
In the UK, IKEA - whose stores remain closed in the UK - has converted the car parks of its Wembley, north London, and Gateshead stores into drive-through testing facility for NHS employees.
The Bunnings testing facilities will be located away from the store entrance.
Mike Schneider, Bunnings MD, told news.com.au:
“We’re part of the local communities where we operate and we have an important role in providing essential products,”
“This new initiative is just another way we are supporting the government and the community to help us tackle COVID-19 together.”
