B&Q Applies For Sunday Opening In Jersey
A change in laws surrounding trading hours in Jersey has enabled B&Q to put forward an application to open on Sundays.
In October 2019, the States Assembly voted 29-17 in favour of removing trading restrictions on stores over 700 sq m (7,500 sq ft) in size.
The change came into effect on 30th October.
If approval is given by the Parish of St Hellier and the planning department, B&Q's Queen's Road store will be allowed to open between 10am and 4pm on Sundays. Currently, the store is allowed to open on nine Sundays each year.
Hannah Swainston, Assistant Planner on behalf of B&Q, wrote to the senior planning officer in Jersey, stating: "Sunday trading hours will allow B&Q to serve customers who are unable to visit the store on other days and is also anticipated to reduce Saturday trading pressures."
