Screwfix expands presence at Prologis Stafford

Screwfix Prologis Stafford

Prologis has signed an agreement to lease 230,500 sq ft to Screwfix at Prologis Park Stafford in the West Midlands.

Screwfix is the UK’s largest multi-channel supplier of trade tools, plumbing and electrical goods, bathrooms and kitchens. The company already occupies a 545,000 sq ft distribution centre at Prologis Park Stafford, where it has recently renewed its lease for a further 10-year term.

“Prologis Park Stafford has proved to be an ideal location for our distribution network,” said Lindsay Haselhurst, Supply Chain and Operations Director at Screwfix. “This new building increases our capacity to deliver goods to both tradesmen and DIY enthusiasts across the UK.

"We already employ over 2,500 staff at both Prologis Park and our distribution centre at Trentham. This recent acquisition will create a further 140 new jobs in the first year and will reinforce our relationship with the area. With the recent launch of 60 new stores in 2014 and the plan to open a further 60 this year, it also supports our growth strategy and is a significant investment for our business.”

Screwfix’s decision to expand at Prologis Park will be supported by the business’ supply chain partner, Wincanton. Liam McElroy, managing director for ecommerce and retail at Wincanton, commented: “We are extremely proud of our long-standing partnership with Screwfix and excited by the opportunity to support the next stage of their growth strategy.”

Prologis Park Stafford, which is at Junction 14 of the M6 motorway, is now fully let.

“We are delighted that Screwfix has decided to expand at Prologis Park Stafford,” said Andrew Griffiths, managing director, Prologis UK. “There are shortages of both logistics buildings and industrial employment land in the West Midlands, so we are very pleased that that we could offer Screwfix a building so close to its existing facility.”

Savills, Cushman & Wakefield and JLL acted for Prologis and SBH represented Screwfix.
