  • Danish retailer will open stores selling everything for the home in Bury and Stockport this summer

The largest Danish retailer operating globally, JYSK, is set to open two new stores within the Greater Manchester region as part of its ambitious UK expansion plans. The first of the two new stores that the much-loved Scandinavian retailer will open will be on 10th June in Bury at Angouleme Retail Park followed by a store in Stockport at Manchester Road Retail Park on 8th July. Not only will the stores bring affordable Scandi-chic homeware to Bury and Stockport, but also great opportunities to the local areas too with 25 new jobs being created.

“We are thrilled to be opening two stores in Greater Manchester to make our affordable and much-loved furniture even more accessible in the North,” says Jenny Johnston, JYSK Sales and Marketing Manager, UK & Ireland. “Our head office operations are also based in Stockport, so we have a strong affinity for the area and continue to see it prosper. The Bury and Stockport stores will bring the affordable Scandi homewares and furniture that we are synonymous with to discerning and design-conscious shoppers of Greater Manchester who will be able to click and collect the same day, as well as explore exclusive in-store lines.”

The two new openings are part of JYSK’s ambitious UK expansion plan which comes off the back of record results in the UK & Ireland during the financial year 2019/2020, with total sales reaching €41M, an increase of 74% on 2018/2019. Despite a challenging year for the retail market, with forced store closures during lockdown periods, over 860,000 customers (a 55% YoY increase) in the UK & Ireland chose to shop at the Scandinavian retail chain to improve everyday life in their homes, confirming a UK-wide trend that has seen homewares sales soar.

After hitting the exciting milestone of 3,000 stores worldwide in February 2021, the sky’s the limit for Danish retailer JYSK as they set their next goal of 5000 stores worldwide. Already seeing success in the Greater Manchester area through their Bolton store, the upcoming double store opening comes as part of JYSK’s expansion plan to have 26 stores in the UK by the end of their financial year.

JYSK Bury and Stockport are just two of the exciting store launches that JYSK has planned for this year, with stores in Leeds, Barnsley, and Gainsborough also opening during 2021.

In addition to incredibly priced, stylish homeware, the new stores will have some exclusive opening offers to celebrate its launch. Shoppers will be able to snap up the ‘Tronfjellet’ Fibre Pillow from £7 (usually £22.99), the beautiful dusky blue ‘Nebel’ rocking chair for £85 (usually £199.99) and save up to 70% on the bestsellers from the brand including the popular garden furniture assortment.
