Wickes Publishes First Ever Ethnicity Pay Gap Report

Wickes Watford - new store - 725 x 500

Wickes, the UK’s home improvement retailer, has published its first ever Ethnicity Pay Gap Report, along with its third Gender Pay Gap Report, since becoming an independent listed company.

Reporting a positive Ethnicity Pay Gap result of 0.04% (mean) and -0.74% (median), along with a narrowing of both its mean and median Gender Pay gaps in the year, Wickes is making good progress in building gender and ethnicity equality at every level within the business.

The median gender pay gap has improved from 2.6% to below 0.1% and the mean gender pay gap has also decreased to 6.5% from 7.4% in 2022.

Wickes has also grown its representation of women in its highest pay quartile, up from 29.11% in 2022 to 31.84% in 2023, reflecting an increase in the number of women in senior management roles. The higher representation of men in the lower quartile is in line with its overall store employee population, which is 60% male.

Sonia Astill, Chief People Officer at Wickes commented on the results:

“I’m delighted that this year we’re able to report our first Ethnicity Pay Gap data, which is vital as we seek to build our understanding and support for colleagues from ethnically diverse backgrounds. I’m equally delighted with the great progress that we’ve made in addressing gender equality in our business. At Wickes, we’re passionate about creating a culture of inclusion, diversity and equality, where every single one of our colleagues can feel at home and is given the opportunity and support to flourish.”
