  • Products donated as part of the Wickes Community Programme

Wickes, a leading UK home improvement retailer, is proud to announce a collaborative effort with their supplier, Optimaxx, to donate essential building supplies to various charitable organisations, including Men in Sheds, as part of the ongoing Wickes Community Programme.

In a recent review of their product ranges, Wickes identified surplus stock of screws that were set to be discontinued. In line with their commitment to community support and environmental sustainability, Wickes, in partnership with Optimaxx, donated these supplies to charitable organisations that could benefit from them.

Katherine Rolfe, Head of Sustainability at Wickes, said: “At Wickes, we are committed to giving back to the communities where we operate. This donation from our end-of-range stock not only supports the environment by reducing waste but also helps charities in the local community.”

Norman Shimwell, Sales Director at Optimaxx, said: “We are delighted to partner with Wickes on this initiative. It’s a practical way to make a difference, utilising resources that would otherwise not be used. We believe in the power of community and are proud to contribute to such worthy causes. We particularly enjoyed how our screws were used in a work of art made entirely from plastic bottle tops and secured in place by our screws."

This initiative is part of the broader Wickes Community Programme, which aims to support local communities through donations, volunteering, and partnerships with charities and non-profit organisations.

The Wickes Community Programme welcomes all local community groups seeking assistance for improvement projects. Groups interested in applying for a product donation can visit their local store to speak to the manager or find out more by visiting our website at www.wickes.co.uk/community-programme.
