Wickes Launches Innovative Garden Calendar Experience

Garden Calendar Announcement

New research reveals gardens are now one of the most important areas of the home, as garden projects have topped a poll of home improvement jobs undertaken in the last year.

The research, conducted by home improvement retailer Wickes amongst 1000 homeowners, found that 76% of Brits undertook garden projects in the last year, overtaking painting and wallpapering (67%), plumbing (57%) and bathroom projects (47%).

Over 18 million people took up gardening during the pandemic[1] and the popularity for the pastime has continued into 2023. According to the research, over half of Brits (57%) expressed a desire to improve their garden with major projects over the next few years, whilst mowing the lawn, planting shrubs and growing fruit and vegetables were also named as some of the most popular smaller home improvement projects.

To help customers make the most of their garden, Wickes has launched a new interactive garden calendar with month-by-month tips to make the most of outside space. With helpful sections such as "Grow Your Own," "Plant Care," "Maintenance," and "Building" the interactive guide provides useful tips and guides for each season, in an easy-to-follow format.

Clair Albone, Senior Category Manager for Garden Maintenance at Wickes says:

“Our research shows that gardening is a popular pastime for people across the country and that over a third (39%) of people are looking to make improvements to their garden in the next year. Our new garden calendar provides a fun and easy way for people to access a wealth of tips, tricks, and how-tos to help people make the most of their outside space all year round.”

Gardening enthusiasts can access an array of valuable garden hacks that are visually categorized into monthly sections, helping users to identify the areas in their garden that require attention based on the current season.

Shoppers can learn about everything from the best seasonal vegetables to plant, and how to protect fruit bushes from birds, to knowing when to prune plants, and even how to prepare garden furniture for the warmer weather.

Just in time for May, the Garden Calendar offers useful advice on watering plants and grass to achieve a flourishing garden this season.
