Wickes Launches Innovative Ad Creative For New Home Office Range

Home Office Milton White (1)

Home improvement business Wickes has teamed up with One Minute Briefs to create a distinctive new ad to support the launch of its new home office range. The winning creative will be on display in the heart of Canary Wharf from yesterday, Monday 17th May.

One Minute Briefs is a social network for the creative industry which challenges its community to respond with instinctive ideas to advertising briefs and rewards the best entries. The inaugural partnership challenge with Wickes was to design a poster to raise awareness of their new fitted home office range, as households adjust to more permanent home working.

The response to the challenge proved so popular, the entry deadline was extended and over 400 poster designs were submitted with ‘Wickes’ trending on Twitter as a result. The winning creative was designed by @clareandsquare with the strapline ‘Smirking from home’. With working from home thrust upon many during the last year, the poster conveys the smug and gleeful feeling elicited from working in your own bespoke office space, avoiding your commute, and generally feeling good about your work / life balance.

As part of the prize, the poster will be turned into a live Digital Out Of Home execution in the middle of traditional office heartland, Canary Wharf. Going live on Monday 17th May, ‘Smirking from Home’ will appear on the prestigious ‘The Screen’ site outside One Canada Square and ‘The Two Towers’ site on Aspen Way, as you approach the financial district.

Commenting on her winning design, @claresquare said: “I’m absolutely over the moon to have won the Wickes brief, as there were so many good entries! OMB provides a great opportunity to work on amazing brands and to be challenged creatively every day. I only discovered OMB in March and it’s safe to say I’m totally addicted! And now being able to see my entry in a real OOH setting is absolutely wild! Trying desperately to play it cool... I AM NOT OK!”

Nick Entwhistle, Founder of One Minute Briefs, said: “We were delighted to collaborate with Wickes on this social media campaign and hope to team up once again in the future. We received hundreds of submissions and this poster really stood out due to its beautifully simple copy inspired by a term we've all become accustomed to. It perfectly encapsulates that feeling of working from home in a proper office as opposed to your dining room table. Well done Clare!”

Mandy Minichiello, Head of Showroom Marketing at Wickes, said: “We love Clare’s winning creative and how it brings to life the feeling of having your own fitted office space at home. With so many strong entries to the challenge, the One Minute Briefs concept has provided an interesting way to engage with a talented creative community and provide alternative inspiration to support this launch.”

Wickes’ fitted home office range provides 44 styles to choose from  for all types of Home Office requirements, whether that is a standalone office space within a multipurpose room such as a spare bedroom, or using space which is maybe wasted, such as open plan living space or under the stairs.
