Wickes Celebrates WFH Spaces With Launch Of Home Office Awards
Home Improvement retailer, Wickes, has teamed up with TV celebrity and property experts Phil Spencer and Ben Hillman to celebrate and reward the creators of the best WFH spaces, with the launch of the Wickes 2021 Home Office Awards.
After more than a year of “you’re on mute” and back-to-back calls, many have created specific ‘WFH’ areas. Wickes has been on the lookout for savvy and stand out ‘wow’ set ups on social media and has helped countless customers finesse the area with new wallpaper, paint, storage, and desks, as well as build new fitted home offices. Wickes is now excited to celebrate those spaces and reward the best and most creative. The award launch comes after Wickes launched its new fitted Home Office range in March 2021.
So, whether it’s a dedicated luxury outhouse office or an efficient use of space under the stairs, the awards are here to applaud the efforts and help five workers transform their space further. With vouchers being awarded to five lucky winners, Wickes is here to assist with everything from decorating a small space through painting, wallpapering, building new storage, building a desk, to going all out and transforming a room and fitting a standalone home office.
How does it work? Wickes Home Office Awards will have two rounds which will see five shortlisted winners and one overall winner. Each of the below shortlist awards (and a £150 voucher prize) will be given to one entrant. From this group, one winner will be crowned the creator of ‘The Nation’s Best Home Office’. This winner will receive £1,000 Wickes vouchers to put towards their next project.
● The Minimalist Master Award – A working from home set up that makes the best use of minimal space. This could be in the bedroom wardrobe, under the stairs, making use of alcoves or simply an innovative use of pull-down desks etc
● Best Interior and Mindful Design Award – An office space that is styled with colour and fun accessories and, whilst looking great, is mindful of comfort and wellbeing
● Cleaning Up in the Kitchen Award – A working from home space created within the kitchen
● The Sensational Shed Award – A working from home space located within a garden outbuilding, converted shed or external space outside of the home
● The Savviest Set-Up – A functional working space which has been designed and created with a small budget
Judging the awards will be TV property expert and developer Phil Spencer, TV presenter and interior designer Ben Hillman who is in the process of creating his very own outdoor home office, along with buyers for Wickes’ new Home Office and Hub Garden range.
Commenting on the awards, Phil Spencer said: “If lockdown has taught us anything, it’s how to make the most of the space we have. For many, that has meant getting creative to provide a suitable place to work and separate it from our home life. I’ve seen some amazing examples of this and as homeworking continues to increase, a home office space is likely to become as sought after as an en suite or garage. I’m looking forward to seeing some of the innovative designs and spaces and helping five winners enhance their space further.”
Mandy Minichiello, Head of Marketing at Wickes said: “Homeworking has evoked that great British spirit of making the best of any situation. We’ve seen some amazing home improvement projects. The Wickes Home Office Awards will celebrate and reward the best of these home office ideas, whether it’s the drop-down desk in the bedroom, to the brand-new purpose-built garden office – with shortlist awards catering for all styles and budgets, we want to see them all.”
