Virtual Reality goes mainstream as Oculus Rift comes to John Lewis
First on the high street for innovation and experience, John Lewis is setting its sights on the future with the UK launch of Oculus Rift.
Set to redefine digital entertainment and bring virtual reality mainstream, the highly anticipated headset joins John Lewis’ growing range of virtual reality products.
From the beginning of September, John Lewis customers will be able to immerse themselves in this exciting technology with demonstrations at our flagship Oxford Street shop and twelve other shops across the country later in the month. Customers will be able to fully engage with the world of virtual reality in a variety of exhilarating experiences; including trying the game, Lucky’s Tale, included with the purchase of the Oculus Rift device.
Launching in shops and online on 20th September, the Oculus Rift headset, priced at £549, is the next generation in virtual reality. Combining state of the art displays and optics with 360 degree sound, the revolutionary device creates an immersive experience transporting users into their game or video.
Will Jones, Head of Buying for Electricals, John Lewis, comments: “We are very excited to be launching Oculus Rift in the UK. We’ve seen interest in virtual reality rise dramatically in the last few months, with sales of the Samsung Gear VR, powered by Oculus, headset up 310% in the last six weeks alone. The Oculus Rift device is a significant progression in virtual reality technology, set to reinvent how we work and play, and we are proud to offer our customers the chance to experience it first.”
