Travis Perkins partners with Microlise for delivery technology
UK builders' merchant Travis Perkins has invested in new technology for its fleet of drivers, allowing the organisation to keep more accurate information on delivery success.
Using the Microlise ePOD solution on Zebra Technologies' TC55 pocket-sized Android mobile devices, the system includes task management, driver communications and access to site notes and manifest information.
The ePOD solution, which is being used by Travis Perkins' businesses and brands such as Keyline, CCF, Benchmark and CPS, is designed to provide complete visibility of deliveries. All distribution activity is tracked via the solution, through features such as barcode scanning, sign-on glass and image capture.
Commenting on the proof of delivery solution deployment, Travis Perkins programme manager Mark Blackburn said: "As well as providing consistent paperless tracking of deliveries, it also works with our route planning tool to optimise fuel consumption and reduce environmental impact.
"The objective is always to improve the experience for our customers and this deployment is a first step in our larger business strategy of continued development."
