Tile Giant shortlisted for National Award
Tile Giant has been shortlisted for Personnel Today's annual awards in the Excellence in Learning and Development category.
The home improvement retailer is being recognised for its investment and work in the development and delivery of a unique sales training program for its stores colleagues. In less than 12 months, the impact of the training has seen the business deliver a 22% increase in sales and a customer satisfaction rating of 9.7/10.
Tile Giant teamed up with Impact Business Partners, a training specialist, to understand the consumer journey and identify and implement a training programme which would improve the retail experience for all involved. As well as a rebranding exercise, the company based in Stoke-On-Trent has plans to further improve its standing in the market, with a new ‘secret shopper’ initiative launching later in the year.
Tile Giant’s HR director, Sally Dunn said: “We wanted to work with colleagues to create an active and engaging environment in our showrooms that exceed our customers’ expectations. Already we have reduced employee turnover, improved levels of colleague engagement and dramatically enhanced the customer experience, all of which proves that Tile Giant is the store to buy from. The success of this investment perfectly demonstrates that our showroom teams are right at the heart of our business.”
The nomination will see Tile Giant go up against other well-known businesses including Santander, Rentokil and Barclaycard. The winner will be announced at the Personnel Today Awards on 22 November.
With over 200 showrooms and implants in other Group brands such as Travis Perkins, Wickes, Benchmarx and City Plumbing Supplies stores, Tile Giant is one of the UK's largest tile retailers.
The business was launched in 2003 to provide products that lead the way in trends and the latest materials, sourced in an ethical and sustainable way and was acquired by the Travis Perkins Group in 2007.
High quality tiles are sourced from all over the world, meaning that they are often one of the first to bring new ranges to market, such as the in-to-out tiles that allow home owners to create an extended living space from the lounge to the garden, all with the same tiles; the wood-effect ceramic range, that provides an authentic real wood look, without the problems of wear and tear; and new large-format tiles inspired by continental living.
