Theo Paphitis launches new Robert Dyas catalogue
Housewares and hardware chain Robert Dyas has launched its Summer 2013 catalogue - with a revealing introductory message from its famous owner Theo Paphitis.
The entrepreneur and former 'Dragon's Den' star bought the business in July 2012 and has joined the board as chairman.
Describing himself as the 'Proud owner of Robert Dyas' he writes: "If you're like me and want well designed, functional products that make life easier, then you'll love Robert Dyas. I loved it so much I bought the business!"
Featuring the strapline 'Bringing Value Home', the catalogue's contents are divided into three sections: kitchen (which comprises 13 pages), home (11 pages) and outdoors (16 pages).
'Top catalogue picks' include a Bosch Styline Sensor kettle and toaster at £69.99 each, a Kitchen Craft silicone 20-cake pop mould (£9.99) and a Giles & Posner stand mixer (£99.99).
In the catalogue's introduction, Theo comments that was involved in the product selection process. "Here, myself and the team have handpicked a few of our favourite products that we hope make running your home a little easier this summer," he says. He invites readers to "come and take a look and let me know what you think, email me at mail.theo@robertdyas.co.uk."
Theo also explains why he decided to purchase the Robert Dyas business last summer: "If you recognise me from TV's 'Dragon's Den', you'll know that I have a passion for useful products that are well-designed and really do the job. Robert Dyas, my latest retail investment, is just rammed full of them.
"Over the years, Robert Dyas has helped me find solutions to so many little problems around the home. I've bought loads of useful gadgets I didn't even know existed and Mrs P has all the kit she ever wanted to keep the house in order.
"I've loved this business for so much and for so long. Was I pleased when the chance to buy it came up? To be honest, it's like having a professional hobby! Most of all, I love testing new products to the limit, to make sure they really are 'fit for purpose'!
"We've got 96 shops, mainly in the South of England, but I want to bring to the rest of the country the unique mixture of products, expertise and traditional customer service that Robert Dyas has been known for over the last 140 years."
