The Range To Take On Closing Wrexham Homebase Unit
Homebase has confirmed that its Wrexham branch, located on Plas Coch Road, will close on December 14th.
In August, Homebase announced that 42 stores would close by the Spring of 2019 and that a further 70 branches, code-named 'Amber stores', were under ongoing review and would only remain open if negotiations with landlords were successful.
A Homebase spokesperson said: "Homebase initiated a CVA in August, leading to the beginning of negotiations with landlords on the measures outlined in the proposal. As conversations take place on a store by store basis, there is an element of fluidity in the process. I can confirm that the Wrexham store is now scheduled to close but the store in Mold will remain open."
A 15-year lease for the 49,332 sq ft store has already been agreed with The Range, at a cost of £8.11 per sq ft (£87.30 per sq m).
The Range will join Boots, Currys PC World, Sports Direct and TK Maxx on the site.
Charlie Greenhalgh of Savills, which represented the owner of the site, said: "We are delighted to have secured a deal with The Range for this store, which benefits from being situated within Wrexham’s dominant out of town retail area."
