The Range To Open In Former Greenock Homebase
The former Homebase store in Greenock is to get a new lease of life now that The Range has confirmed its intention to open in the building.
The West Shaw street site is undergoing a programme of refurbishments and is expected to open at some point next year, with the creation of around 80 jobs.
The store will offer a variety of products across 16 departments, including arts and crafts, DIY, kitchen and dining. The outdoor garden centre is being retained and the building will also house an Iceland Foods concession and a café.
The Range opened its first store in Scotland in Glasgow in 2013, and currently has 14 stores in the region.
Chris Dawson, owner and founder of The Range, said: “After an exciting year of store openings, we are really looking forward to growing the business further with many more new stores in 2020.
“It’s fantastic that we are able transform the former Homebase into another national retailer and add yet another branch to our Scottish portfolio.
"We expect the job provision that comes with the new store to be a great boost to the local area."
The Range recently launched a kitchen business with showrooms in two of its stores: the new, flagship Derriford branch and Liverpool's Edge Lane store.
