The Range currently operates out of 140 stores across the UK and Ireland and is expected to move into the premises once converted later this year.
The Homebase store in Parc Pemberton had previously survived widespread closures announced by the Homebase business, which over the last few years has resulted in the chain contracting from 341 to 264 branches.
The new Range store will offer a wider range of products than Homebase, across 16 different categories including DIY, Homewares, Arts & Crafts, Furniture and a large outdoor garden centre.
Chris Dawson founder of The Range said: “Opening a new store is always a proud moment for the company and Llanelli is no exception. It will be great to create 80 jobs in the town following the closure of Homebase and we expect that the new store will be a fantastic boost to the local economy.
“I am sure that The Range will provide something for everyone and we look forward to inviting the local community down to celebrate the opening later this year.”
