The Range reveals plans for new Plymouth HQ & store

The Range has revealed exciting plans for a brand new store and Head Office on a former Ministry of Defence site in Plymouth. 

The development will be built on the former Seaton Barracks site, which passed from the MoD to Plymouth City Council in 2011. The company's existing HQ in Estover currently houses 250 employees while its new facility will provide space for around 700.

The development is likely to create as many as 570 jobs across a number of departments, as well as a further 120 jobs at the new store, due to be built alongside the head office. 

Owner and founder of The Range, Chris Dawson said: "It was always very important for me to keep our head office operations in our home city and the place that CDS The Range started. I have staff that have worked for the company for over 20 years so having a new office built just down the road from the current office is a big deal to all of us. 

"Having the new Superstore next to our head office also means that it can be used as a training academy and centre of excellence so that Range staff from across the UK can some down to Plymouth and be trained to the highest standards."

The Range's first store opened in Plymouth in 1989, and the retailer now has an estate of 130 sites across the UK.

Work is ongoing on a 1.2 million sq ft South of England distribution centre for the company in Avonmouth which could create more than 1,000 jobs.
