The Range new HQ gets go ahead
Plans for a new flagship The Range store and Head Office in Plymouth have been approved by the local council.
The project located in Seaton Hill project will see a brand new store, painted in the Range's trademark orange and navy blue colours, plus a new purpose built Head Office. Overall, the development is likely to create 500 new jobs, 100 of these at the new store and 400 head office-based staff.
The council's planning committee agreed the plans would bring significant benefit to the local community, praising Plymouth's own 'Alan Sugar' - Chris Dawson, the self-made billionaire - for having faith in the city's economic future.
To gain approval for the development, the company had to agree to a list of 41 specific terms and conditions including the fact that work must start within three years as well as conditions relating to the space allocation to each of the various product categories.
Praising the scheme, Tory councillor Vivien Pengelly, said: "I welcome the fact there is an applicant out there that wants to put a flagship store in Plymouth with a head office. This will mean jobs and employment and it's a really good message that Plymouth is looking ahead. It's great for Plymouth, really good news."
