The first Homebase store to get a Bunnings makeover is....

Bunnings store and hammer 725 x 500

Bunnings has revealed that the first Homebase to be converted into the Bunnings Warehouse format is the store at Griffiths Way, St Albans.

The 70,000 sq ft store will close at the end of the month and will re-open in mid-February.

Planned changes to the store include the removal of the existing mezzanine level and the addition of a café and a children's play area.

Peter Davis, the MD of Bunnings in the UK, said that the store was selected because of its proximity to the store support centre and London, and because it is typical example of the stores it will have to convert going forward.

Sources tell us that at least four other stores will be converted by June/July next year, but locations have yet to be revealed.

We will update this story as we learn more.
