With 201,000 monthly brand searches and an owned social score of 862, Bloom and Wild has been revealed as the most prominent brand in the online plants sector for 2024. The brand has over 570,000 combined followers across Instagram, Facebook and X (formerly Twitter).

Dobbies records the same number of monthly searches (201,000) but ranks lower due to a smaller social profile. Overall, Dobbies has 266,800 followers across all channels.

Sarah Raven, a go-to brand for seeds, bulbs, plants and gardening kits, ranked third averaging 74,000 searches each month. The brand also records an owned social score of 389, with over 240,000 Instagram followers.

Waitrose Garden has an incredible owned social score of 2,165. The well-known brand boasts more than 1.4 million followers across Facebook, Instagram, and X. The online plant brand also records 12,100 searches each month.

Patch Plants, known for its extensive range of indoor and outdoor plants, records an average of 40,500 brand searches each month and has over 440,000 followers on its social media accounts.

Farmer Gracy, a brand offering a variety of bulbs online, records 33,100 brand searches each month, highlighting it as another prominent name in the industry.

Recording an average of 90,500 searches each month, Suttons is another popular online plant brand this year. However, with only 65,000 combined social media followers, a better strategy could be implemented to instigate further growth.

Interestingly, Crocus, Gardening Express, and Primrose all record the same average monthly searches (40,500). Additionally, all three brands have similar owned social scores, but with over 110,000 social media followers, Crocus leads the way.

Brett Janes, Managing Director at Salience Search Marketing, said:

“The online plants sector is a very demanding and competitive industry, as a result, standing out from the crowd is essential for business growth and overall success. For brands such as Bloom and Wild, it’s clear that they remain at the forefront of consumer's minds, maintaining high levels of prominence.

“However, while brands such as Suttons and Primrose boast impressive monthly searches, more can be done by these companies to improve their social strategy - which could lead to further growth.”
