Southend Homebase Reopens Following Negotiations and Refit
According to local press, the Homebase store in Southend reopened on Friday 11th January following a refit.
The store was in the original list of 42 Homebases slated for closure as part of the company's turnaround plan, which involved the pursuit of a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) to secure lower rents from landlords.
A spokesperson from Homebase confirmed to the Echo that the store is to reopen following negotiations and a refit.
Local Labour councillor, David Norman, told the publication: “It is excellent news.
“What is really great is that the unit will remain open, none of us want to see large units like that stand empty. It is a very large area and a prominent site. Having a DIY warehouse in the centre of town is a great amenity that will be well used.”
