Hardware specialist Rothley has won a high profile regional award in recognition of its innovation and growth during a period of global turbulence.

The Black Country Chamber of Commerce awarded Rothley the trophy for Marketing and Communications Campaign of the Year at its annual awards ceremony at Wolverhampton Racecourse.

The business was also a finalist in the category of Small Business of the Year.

Rothley, which specialises in decorative ironmongery items such as handrails, curtain poles, utensil rails, hairpin legs and shelving brackets, has 190 years of experience in supplying the trade and recently expanded with dedicated manufacturing in China and an office in Australia.

As consumer buying habits have changed, Rothley has moved into the social media space to showcase its products and it is this work with social media influencers specialising in the DIY and upcycling spaces - including @the_shoestring_home, @our_bears_home and @wilsonresidence - that was recognised at the awards.

The campaign, which ran for three months, resulted in 18 pieces of influencer content that reached 445,541 people via social media.

Rothley was also a shortlisted finalist for the coveted Small Business of the Year award, in recognition of its continued growth against a backdrop of uncertainty and upheaval in business supply chains, cost of materials and shrinking customer budgets due to the cost of living crisis.

Stuart Hobbs, Managing Director of Rothley UK, says: “We adopted a belief that growing economic volatility would manifest itself in heightened consumer shrewdness and that the responsibility to adapt to shoppers' higher expectations is ours.

“Our consumers have rewarded our hyper-sensitivity to what they want in value, fashion and ethical context with their purchases, which is an extremely gratifying reward. To win an award which recognises our consumer-centric approach is inspiring and further fuels our enthusiasm for innovation and growth.”
