Robert Dyas moves HQ from Leatherhead
Robert Dyas, one of Leatherhead's major employers has moved it's headquarters from its current Cleeve Road site.
The company has been located in Leatherhead since 1997, after its Croydon head office and distribution centre was completed destroyed by fire, leading to the company almost going bust. On 22nd May, the high street retailer's head office moved to Wimbledon to be integrated with its parent group, owned by Theo Paphitis.
It is understood there have been some redundancies as a result of the move although a Robert Dyas spokesman said "98% of roles were transferred to the new office".
Howard Jones, Mole Valley district councillor for Leatherhead North, said: "It's not good to lose a company with 200 employees but we don't control what companies do. It's not good news but the plan for Leatherhead is to keep up the current level of employment and create more town centre housing."
