Poundland Perks Becomes #1 Free UK App Within 24 Hours

• Poundland Perks becomes #1 free download in Apple and Google App Stores just 24 hours after launch 
• Rewards App launched this week with over 100 offers including exclusives on some of the UK’s favourite brands: Domestos, Lynx, Pot Noodle, TRESemmé and Dove Nationwide
• ‘Poundland Perks Café’ now on the road for Autumn tour

Poundland’s new Rewards programme, Poundland Perks, has become the top free app in both the Apple and Google Play stores, just 24 hours after its launch.

This week Poundland revealed a major change in all its stores and online as its millions of customers got access to its first-ever Rewards app that allows them to save more, earn more and play more.

The app offers customers at least 100 Perks offers in the app at any one time. In addition, customers can now earn ‘perks points’ when they spend in different parts of the store - and to celebrate launch, Poundland is ‘powering-up’ perks points across everything in the shop, giving customers 100 points for every pound they spend until Christmas.

Once customers have 5,000 points, they can turn them into digital reward vouchers to spend in store or online, or to save for a bigger purchase.

Points and prizes can also be won via the app’s ‘Spin to Winsday’ game which takes place on Wednesdays, from October 23.

And thanks to a partnership with Unilever, included in the 100-plus offers are six exclusive Top Perk deals over the first six weeks on Domestos (750m), Lynx Body Spray (200ml), Pot Noodle (90kg), Dove APA (200ml), TRESemmé (900 ml) and Lynx 225ml SG.

The rewards come on top of Poundland’s existing value, making these items hard to beat in the UK on price.

Poundland Perks is also hitting the road this week on a nationwide tour that will see its caravan café, supported by Nescafe, pitch up in major towns and cities to encourage customers to download the app and save, earn and play.

Today the Poundland Perks Café is at Wolverhampton’s Wulfrun Centre before moving to the Kingfisher Centre in Nuneaton on Saturday and Glamorgan Vale in Llantrisant on Sunday. Next week the Perks caravan will be in Cardiff, Bristol and Bath.

Poundland’s Director of Digital, Tom Hill, said: “It’s been a very strong start for our new rewards app, as we give customers the opportunity to save, earn and play through their smartphone, making shopping with us even more fun, and even more amazing value – whether in store or online. 

"To bring the functionality and enhanced value to UK shoppers, Poundland is investing around £20m in the roll-out of state-of-the-art tills and faster and simpler self-checkouts. 

The new tills enable customers to use the app on their phone when purchasing their favourite items with offers and digital vouchers that help customers save even more.

Today it can be used at every manned checkout and by December 1, every self-service till will also be fully compatible with the Poundland perks app.

The multi-million-pound investment also enables customers to use their Perks membership seamlessly on poundland.co.uk – so customers can save more money and earn Perks points anywhere, and anytime they shop with Poundland.
