Market Drayton Homebase to Close

Following on from last week's announcement that one of Worcester's Homebase stores is to close, Homebase in Market Drayton Homebase has also confirmed it will be closing its doors.

A clearance sale has begun at the store which is located off Frogmore Road in the town and it is expected to close for good in August.

Town councillor, Roy Aldcroft told the Shropshire Star: "I do feel sorry for the staff there. They do a good job, they know their products and they will be sorely missed as well.

"Some of the staff have been there that long they have almost become friends to the customers they serve. We can only hope they can find similar jobs in the retail industry.

"It is also quite sad for the people in the town because really it is the last call as far as anything to do with DIY.

"The nearest store to get that kind of stuff now will be Shrewsbury or Stoke."
