ManoMano doubles UK turnover

Mano Mano 725 x 500

ManoMano is confirmed as the largest European marketplace for home improvement and gardening as it closed 2017 with a global turnover of 250 million euros, and having doubled UK turnover year-over-year.

Launched in 2013 in France, ManoMano.co.uk opened to the UK market in 2016. In September 2017, the marketplace raised 60 million Euros in Series C funding led by global growth equity firm, General Atlantic. Thanks to this investment, ManoMano has been able to continue to innovate and optimise the marketplace platform in order to grow and strengthen its presence throughout Europe.

ManoMano boasts a catalogue of over 1.6 million products, of which more than 200,000 are on sale in the UK.

According to Christian Raisson, co-founder of ManoMano, "The UK has exceeded all the expectations we had set for 2017, which demonstrates the real need for digital pure-players in the DIY and Garden industry".

The impressive growth rates place ManoMano among the top 10 companies in Google’s Scale Up programme, which supports and encourages startup growth. Its digital prowess and innovation have positioned ManoMano as a thought-leader at Retail Week Live 2018 and to be shortlisted for the Retail Week Awards 2018 as Top Emerging Retailer.

Founded in 2013 by two economists and DIY enthusiasts, Philippe de Chanville and Christian Raisson, ManoMano operates in the United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Spain, Italy, and Germany. The company has a global network of 2,000 vendors, 130 of which selling directly through the UK platform. These sellers have the opportunity to offer their products not only to their regional market, but to expand their prospective customers by listing their products on other ManoMano platforms using its cross-border trading model. The catalogue now boasts over 1.6 million products across the 6 countries.

In the last two years, the number of ManoMano employees has, equally, experienced strong growth, rocketing from a team of 63 in 2015 to 172 in December of 2017. This represents an increase of more than 170% and is a strong indicator of ManoMano’s rapid growth and expansion.

In 2018, ManoMano will prioritise expanding its catalogue, strengthening its teams and ensuring the best possible customer experience across all platforms. With efforts in digital innovation and new resources, ManoMano hopes to become the European leader in the online DIY and gardening market.

Growth thanks to innovation

The growth and development of the marketplace is closely linked to innovation in processes within the company, with a particular focus on data processing. "Big Data" is an essential part of the company and is used by practically all teams. "A large part of our rapid growth is linked to not doing things like everyone else, especially in terms of ‘Big Data’. At ManoMano we believe that data makes it possible for customer experience to be 10 times more satisfactory than in store, more adapted and much more profound," says Philippe de Chanville, co-founder of ManoMano.
