Kingfishers Product Design Team Recognised With Top Industry Awards
Kingfisher, the home improvement retailer which includes B&Q, is celebrating after four of their own exclusive brand products were recognised by two of the design industry’s leading awards programmes – the Red Dot Design Award and the iF Design Award.
David Ackland, Product Design Director at Kingfisher plc, said: “At Kingfisher our purpose is to help make better homes accessible for everyone. We start with the customer needs, by understanding where the real challenges lie we can identify what we can do to make things better, so our solutions winning these awards shows we are on the right track. The award-winning products include a multi-function kitchen sink, intuitive heaters, a holistic painting and decorating tools range and water-reducing taps. Each of the products is one of Kingfisher’s own exclusive brands, which offer differentiation, innovation, and value for money for customers. Developing an industry-leading portfolio of own exclusive product ranges is a key part of Kingfisher’s Powered by Kingfisher strategy, and these brands now account for 44% of Kingfisher’s £12bn annual sales. Our product development organisation has been built over the last few years to capitalise on our knowledge, expertise and scale. The team includes Industrial Designers, Product Engineers and Stylists who develop unique products across our core categories.

The Red Dot award winners include:
• GoodHome Romesco kitchen sink – a kitchen sink that is also a flexible, multifunctional workstation, with integrated washing, draining and chopping accessories to save worktop space.
• GoodHome Iriya connected heaters – automated heaters that anticipate the user’s needs based on their habits and helps them to reduce energy consumption (main image).
• GoodHome Nyasa bathroom taps – taps that balance ergonomics, functionality and affordability, and reduce water consumption by 40%; one of the most affordable products of its type on the market.
The iF award winners include:
• GoodHome painting & decorating tools – a complete range of painting, preparation and wallpapering tools to assist users throughout an entire project, indoors or outdoors, plus cleaning and storage accessories.
• GoodHome Iriya connected heaters (as above).
