Brand new JYSK Stockport Store - Mark Flynn Photography 725

Next month, the largest Danish retailer operating globally, JYSK, will add to its growing estate of UK stores with a brand-new opening in Leeds.

On Thursday 26th August, JYSK will open the doors of its new store in South Retail Park, Tulip Street, Leeds, marking the brand’s 24th store in the UK and its third opening this year so far. The new Leeds store will offer shoppers affordable and stylish home furniture and accessories plus much more, right in the heart of the city centre, joining other existing stores in the region - York, Bradford, Dewsbury, Pontefract and Wakefield.

This is a major opening for the retailer and Leeds shoppers will be able to spot billboards around the city in the coming weeks and Capital Yorkshire listeners will be treated to an online giveaway to win vouchers ahead of the opening.

JYSK (pronounced YOOSK) is an international chain of stores with Scandinavian roots that sells everything for the home. JYSK is well known for high quality, on trend products for the home, from the bedroom to the garden. The brand has earnt a worldwide reputation of expertise and knowledge in sleeping culture and specialises in sleeping products created by experts, from mattresses, duvets, and pillows to bedframes and bases.

“Leeds is one of the top five largest cities in the UK so to put our JYSK mark on the map here is a really exciting milestone for us”, says Jenny Johnston, Sales and Marketing Manager, UK and Ireland. “We already have a strong customer base in Yorkshire so it feels a real accomplishment that we can go one step further and bring our products right into the metropolis of the region, in Leeds. What’s more, this is the first store this year that we have been able to open without any lockdown restrictions. That in itself feels like a huge achievement and reason to celebrate, after such tumultuous challenges felt across the entirety of the retail sector over the last year.”

The new store will generate 15 new jobs for the local city and community, with active recruitment for its final few team members still underway. For those seeking a rewarding role in a retail environment with an exciting brand, vacancies can be found at JYSK’s career portal.
