John Lewis To Replace 'Never Knowingly Undersold' Price Promise

Sharon White, chairman of the John Lewis Partnership, has said that John Lewis is planning to replace its famous 'Never knowingly undersold' price promise, in the coming months.

The price promise has been in place since 1925, offering a refund of the price difference to customers who find their item cheaper elsewhere within 28 days.

In an interview with The Sunday Times, published last weekend, Ms White said; "The proposition is important because it signifies being fair to society. We're reviewing it to improve it,".

John Lewis recently confirmed the closure of two of its largest stores: Birmingham, which has only been open for five years, and Watford; four of its “At Home” stores (Croydon, Newbury, Swindon and Tamworth) and two travel stores, located at Heathrow airport and St Pancras railway station.

The interview revealed that John Lewis plans to reduce its own-brand women’s fashion, travel and spa services, focusing instead on "more inspiration, surprise, fun", and more financial, home and garden products.

John Lewis recently announced a partnership with Fat Llama for a furniture rental trial in the London area.
