Iceland to Open New-Concept Store in Ayrshire Homebase Unit

A former Homebase in Ayrshire is to be turned into a frozen food retail outlet.

Iceland is to open a branch of 'The Food Warehouse' in the unit, which is located on Heathfield Retail Park in Ayr.

The Food Warehouse was formed in 2014 and operates over 50 stores in the UK. Branches are generally located on retail parks or sites where customers can benefit from free parking, and stock includes fresh, chilled and canned goods as well as bulk products and larger packs than would be typically available in a standard Iceland store.

Between 20 and 30 jobs are expected to be created when the store opens later this year.

Solicitor Michael McDougall said:

"This will be the first Food Warehouse in South Ayrshire. It is a relatively new concept for Iceland."
