Homebase Worcester Hylton Road Closure Confirmed

'Closing down' signs have been put up around one of Worcester's Homebase stores and a spokesperson for the business has confirmed that it will close before the end of August.

Variety retailer The Range looks set to move into the empty unit; the company having previously submitted planning requests to the local council to allow a change in planning permission which would enable it to take on the site. 

Councillors agreed to the change last month but Homebase did not confirm its plans to leave the Hylton Road site until this week.

Worcester's other Homebase store is located on Elgar Retail Park, Blackpole Road.  

A spokesperson for Homebase said: "The store will be closing in the week commencing August 19 or August 26.

"Every effort will be made to move to redeploy staff to other stores."

Approximately 35 people work in the closing Homebase store and The Range is expected to employ around 85 when it opens.
