Homebase to use six 'clearance' stores to shift dead stock

In a move designed to tidy up the Homebase estate and absorb stock from the planned closures, news has reached the Insight DIY offices this afternoon that Homebase have identified six current Homebase stores that they intend to use as clearance outlets.

The stores located in Bournemouth, New Southgate, Peterborough, Bristol, Warrington and Greenock will operate outside of the rest of the Homebase estate and will not offer special order kitchens, bathrooms, local delivery service, paint mixing or hire shop.

In the recent announcement to the Australian Stock Exchange Wesfarmers confirmed that there would be a number of significant items in the Half Year Results announcement due tomorrow. This included stock write-downs of £37 million, relating to excess, unsuitable and display stock. It is this stock, which we believe will be moved to the clearance stores to provide a better shopping experience in the reminder of the Homebase stores.

Pricing and Promotions

• This store has prices, including clearance discounts, that are unique to this store.
• This store no longer participates in other national Homebase pricing or promotions for products, including those that may be advertised.
• The prices in this store are unique and cannot be matched in other Homebase stores.
• Clearance discounts are not applicable in other Homebase stores or homebase.co.uk

Product Availability

• Due to the fast turnover of stock, this store is unable to check availability of specific products, therefore you will not able to call the store to Reserve and Collect items.

Returns and Exchanges

• We hope that you are happy with your purchase(s). Please note that returns for unwanted items cannot be accepted in this store.
• In the event that an item is faulty, please return the item with a proof of purchase and we will refund or exchange. If no proof of purchase is available, we will offer an exchange.
• Where we cannot exchange the item for the same item, and no proof of purchase is available, a refund will be offered for the current selling price of the item onto a refund card.
• For any item purchased in a Homebase Clearance Outlet, it can be returned to a Homebase Clearance Outlet only, not to a Homebase or a Bunnings store.

Special Order Products (including kitchens and bathrooms, and Homebase services)

• A Homebase Clearance Outlet operates with reduced services versus a Homebase store.
• Therefore, this store does not offer: Special Orders including kitchens and bathrooms; Kitchen Design Appointments; Local Delivery Service; Paint Mixing; or Hire Shop.
