A Homebase store in Kendal has confirmed it is to remain open, after speculation it was to be replaced by a budget supermarket chain.

Rumours surrounding the closures came about following the discovery that a planning application relating to the site had been made on behalf of Lidl to South Lakeland District Council.

Store manager, Rob Connolly, told local press: “We’re delighted to confirm our store isn’t closing now.”

“We’ve been open in Kendal for 15 years and I’m lucky to have such an experienced and knowledgeable team.”

“Many of my team have been here since the store opened, and as an essential retailer, we’re working hard to ensure we create a safe shopping environment for everyone.”
