Homebase to Furlough Staff as Board Takes Wage Cut
Homebase have announced this morning that they intend to take advantage of the UK Job Retention Scheme to furlough team members both at their Milton Keynes Head Office and across their 160 stores in the UK and Ireland.
A spokesperson told Insight DIY "Following the decision to keep all of our stores in the UK and Ireland temporarily closed, we will be using the UK Job Retention Scheme and the Irish Wage Subsidy Scheme for a number of our team members, who we have asked to take a temporary leave of absence.
We’re going to ensure that everyone taking part in either the UK or Republic of Ireland Scheme, even if they’re earning over £30,000, receives 80% of their total salary. During this uncertain time, the Homebase Board will also be taking a voluntary salary reduction of 20%. We are enormously grateful for the support of our teams, customers and suppliers at what is a challenging time for everyone".
Our thoughts go out to everyone who is affected by this decision and when we have more details on the numbers involved, we'll publish here on Insight DIY.
