Home Bargains Moves on Former Droitwich Homebase Unit

The building which formerly housed Droitwich's Homebase store has attracted the interest of Home Bargains.
The Roman Way Retail Park unit, located on Kidderminster Road in Droitwich, is currently subject to planning restrictions which do not allow for the sale of food and beverages.
Home Bargains' parent company, TJ Morris Ltd, has applied for permission to Wychavon District Council to alter these conditions to enable it to open on the site.
The Droitwich store was one of the first 42 stores earmarked for closure after Homebase was forced to take drastic action to save the business, following a disastrous acquisition by Australian conglomerate, Wesfarmers.
TJ Morris has said that it will invest £3million in converting the store and in doing so, will create jobs during the redevelopment of the site and once the store has opened.
