High-Rise Housing Plans for B&Q's Former Old Trafford Site
Property developer and investor Accrue Capital has lodged plans with Trafford Council for 433 built to rent homes on a vacant former B&Q site on Great Stone Road, Old Trafford adjacent to Old Trafford cricket ground.
Accrue has been working with Indigo Planning and Manchester based architect O’Connell East on the plans.
Since the consultation, Accrue has undertaken further work to support the application, in particular in terms of parking and traffic, affordability and visual impacts.
The 433 homes planned for Trafford Place will include a mix of 1-bed, 2-bed and 3-bed properties, as well as public realm, and ground-floor units designed for a range of commercial or community uses.
The building has been designed so that it steps up from 6 storeys in height away from Great Stone Road, to a maximum of 12 storeys above the parking.
Stephen Webster, Chairman of Accrue Capital, said: “We have been hugely encouraged that the majority of people who responded to our consultation support the idea of new homes on the site. The plans we have submitted today reflect the insights we received during that consultation process and have been carefully put together to ensure that Trafford Place delivers the maximum benefit possible to the local area.
“With a chronic shortage of new housing in the area, Trafford Place aims to help change that by providing good quality, well designed homes suitable for the needs of the local market. Supported by communal spaces, we believe that the whole scheme will deliver major benefits to the area and we look forward to working with the Council and other local stakeholders in progressing our vision for Trafford Place.”
