Homebase Hatfield to become B&M Bargains
The first Homebase store to be confirmed as a closure since the acquisition by Hilco has been announced.
According to a Homebase spokesperson, the store located at Oldings Corner Retail Park, Hatfield will close on 5th August 2018, “We can confirm that our store in Hatfield is set to close on August 5 2018, our priority now is to continue supporting team members.”
The store is now covered with closing down signs and discounts being applied to the stock ranges between 10% and 25%.
It's made clear on the numerous posters that the closure is affecting ‘this store only’.

Speculation amongst the local press is that B&M Bargains will be taking on the store, which sits in a prime location next to Tesco Extra and Next stores.
Here at Insight DIY, we've been expected news of store closures since Wesfarmers announced that 40 branches had been identified for closure back in February 2018. Unfortunately, we believe this may be the start of a broader closure plan and as soon as we hear of more closures we will of course keep you updated.
