Delay To Grantham Homebase Conversion

Homebase Grantham.jpg

The former Homebase unit in Grantham is to remain vacant for at least a few more months after a discount retailer failed to move in as planned.

Home Bargains currently operates from a site on nearby Sankt Augustin Way and confirmed plans to move into the vacant unit on Dysart Retail Park in May 2019.

The Homebase store, which occupied Unit 1 on the Dysart Retail Park, closed in 2018, having been listed in the first round of planned closures following the sale of the business by then-owner, Wesfarmers, to investment company Hilco Capital.

In May, a Home Bargains spokesman told local press that the move was scheduled for September 2019 but advised it was "subject to change."

In October 2019, planning consent was granted to allow 30% of the unit's floor space to be used for food sales, to enable Home Bargains to take on the site.

Local press has since reported that the store is now likely to open in May of this year.
