B&Q updates TradePoint discount structure

TradePoint has today (30 August 2018) announced changes to its loyalty scheme as part of its wider strategy to simplify pricing. Customers using their TradePoint membership card will now be eligible to receive a flat rate discount on all products when they spend a minimum amount each month.

The new spend threshold and discounts for direct Tradepoint members are:

  • Spend £250 and receive 5% discount off products for the rest of that calendar month and the following month;
  • Spend £1,000 and receive 10% discount off products for the rest of that calendar month and the following month

From 1 October 2018 (and each subsequent calendar month), for eligible TradePoint members spending above the thresholds of £250 or £1,000 (taking into account any refunds and/or cancelled orders) the relevant discount will automatically be applied to their account within seven days, for the rest of that month and the following month.

In addition to the new discount structure, TradePoint has taken on board member feedback and will move all pricing from ex-vat to inc-VAT from 1 October 2018. The spend thresholds for the TradePoint loyalty scheme are VAT inclusive, simplifying pricing and making the discounts more accessible.

All TradePoint members, whether or not they meet the spend threshold, will benefit from B&Q's investment of over £100 million into lowering prices across the store this year. In addition, they will be eligible for existing TradePoint benefits including free paint mixing, free brick matching, free timber cutting, free bulk delivery on orders over £350 (incl. VAT) and free Kitchen & Bathroom design services.  TradePoint customers also benefit from long opening hours, express delivery, click and collect service, free delivery on standard orders over £50 (incl. VAT) and a 45 day returns policy.

Chris Bargate, Director of TradePoint, B&Q, commented:

“Tradespeople share our vision to create great homes. They work hard for their customers andas industry leaders it’s our responsibility to look after their best interests. The new scheme is designed to simplify the TradePoint discount structure, rewarding our loyal members with compelling prices that are clear, transparent and trusted.”

“Changes announced today mean that eligible TradePoint members that meet the spend threshold can enjoy flat rate discounts of up to 10% across our range, rather than having to look for trade prices that are only available on specific products. The inclusion of VAT within prices is also an important part of our mission for simplified prices and something that we know our trade customers will welcome.”

Although the changes don’t come into effect until 1 October 2018, TradePoint is kick starting the new scheme with an introductory offer, rewarding eligible members with the following discount:

  • Spend £250 in September and receive 5% discount from 1 October 2018 through to 31 December 2018, and
  • Spend £1,000 in September and receive 10% discount for 1 October 2018 through 31 December 2018

On 11 July, as part of its commitment to simplifying its pricing and making its prices clear, transparent and trusted, B&Q announced that it’s investing over £100million this year in lowering prices for all its customers. This included reviewing weekend deals, multi-buys and loyalty club benefits

The changes detailed above are applicable to direct TradePoint members only.
