B&Q To Open New Staines Store

B&Q Staines Community Day 1

B&Q has announced it will open its tenth B&Q Local store on Staines high street on Friday 26 January. To celebrate, colleagues from the new store offered support to local homelessness charity Spelthorne Rentstart with a special community makeover.

The community volunteering day saw B&Q Local Staines’ team, work alongside the Rentstart team to refresh and revamp several of its communal areas including a lounge space, kitchen and garden area. The day was part of B&Q’s wider Community Days programme, where volunteers from local B&Q stores support the community by improving a local charity space and making a positive difference across the communities B&Q operates in.

Spelthorne Rentstart is a local charity established to assist single people and childless couples to access accommodation in the private rented sector and to make positive life changes from the stability of secure housing.

Meena Chahal, from Spelthorne Rentstart, said: “We are really grateful for the incredible effort and generosity B&Q has shown in decorating our units. The thoughtful details and creative touches have not only enhanced the surroundings but have also uplifted the spirits of the individuals who call this place home.  They have transformed our space into a warm and welcoming environment, creating an atmosphere of comfort and dignity for those experiencing homelessness.

“The smiles on the faces of our residents are a testament to the positive change they have brought into their lives. Once again, thank you B&Q for your generosity, time, and dedication to making a difference in our community.”

Store Manager, Michael Novell, said: “At B&Q we are always looking for ways in which we can make a positive difference to the communities we operate in, so my colleagues and I were really proud to mark the opening of the new store by working with the Spelthorne Rentstart team to refresh some of the spaces that are vital for the people the homeless charity supports.
