B&Q to close stores in Hartlepool, Ipswich, Rochdale and Sunderland, among others

It has been confirmed that B&Q is to close the following stores, among others, in the next financial year as part of its plan to reduce store space by around 15% following a review of the 360-strong store estate.

Hartlepool - Tees Bay Retail Park
A B&Q spokesman said: “We have let colleagues at our Hartlepool store know that their store is one of those planned for closure next financial year (2016/17).

Ipswich – Anglia Retail Park
A B&Q spokesman said: “We have let colleagues at our Ipswich Anglia store know that their store is one of those planned for closure next financial year.

“Our focus for the coming months is on redeploying as many colleagues as we can within B&Q and the Kingfisher Group.”

Rochdale – Sandbrook Park
A B&Q spokesman said: “We have let colleagues at our Rochdale store know that their store is one of those planned for closure next financial year.”

Sunderland - Ryhope Road, Leechmere
“B&Q proposes to close its smaller store in Ryhope Road, Sunderland, in November,” said a company statement.

“A number of staff at the Ryhope Road store have already transferred to the Trimdon Street store, ready to welcome their customers to the new home improvement store being created at Trimdon Street.”
