B&Q Reinforces Kitchen & Bathroom Offer with 800 New Roles

Kitchen Showroom

Leading home improvement retailer B&Q has reinforced its commitment to the kitchens and bathrooms market by commencing recruitment of the planned 800 new colleagues for its Showroom areas to help customers.

The news comes after it recently announced proposals to simplify the way it sells kitchens and bathrooms, moving away from offering installation services to reflect customer preference1 and continuing to focus on selection, design and ordering of new kitchens and bathrooms, for delivery and take-away.

This new recruitment phase paves the way for customers to deal with just one person in store, making the process simpler and the experience faster, with the whole process from booking a design appointment to home delivery being done in less time. All staff will continue to be fully trained on B&Q Spaces, its unique and interactive design tool that makes designing and managing a kitchen or bathroom easier than ever before. The software captures measurements and presents customers with an accurate design and price for their project.

Paul White, Trading Director, B&Q commented: “As one of the UK’s leading kitchen and bathroom retailer, B&Q is committed to the growth and development of the category. We are confident these improvements lay firm foundations to drive our showrooms business forward, and create a solid platform from which to continue evolving our market leading kitchen proposition.

“With the addition of 800 new colleagues, customers will experience an even better service, dealing with just one member of staff who will make it simpler for them to buy a kitchen or bathroom and create an even better shopping experience.”

Whilst simplifying its kitchen and bathroom proposition, B&Q is continuing to support self-employed installers. This week B&Q and the British Institute of Kitchen, Bedroom & Bathroom Installation (BiKBBI) announce they have worked together to arrange free membership of BiKBBI for installers. This enables them to be listed on the BiKBBI’s ‘find-a-member’ search facility, a free service offered to customers who are searching for a reputable local installer. This in turn is being signposted to B&Q customers in store who request advice on installation.

Free membership of BiKBBI for self-employed installers will continue for 12 months and enable them to connect direct with customers looking for an installer for their new kitchen or bathroom.

B&Q offers customers a choice of 25 different kitchens. For more information on B&Q’s Kitchens and Bathrooms, visit www.diy.com/Kitchens and www.diy.com/Bathrooms.
