B&Q Launches Fully Transactional DIY.ie Website
- Launch represents next step in ongoing commitment to Irish customer base
- The whole of Ireland can now easily access B&Q’s great value home improvement range
B&Q has launched diy.ie, its first fully transactional website for the Republic of Ireland, with Click + Collect and home delivery services now available nationwide.
In a significant moment for the business, B&Q is making it easier for new and existing customers in Ireland to shop for home improvement products and services – and can now offer convenient shopping access across the whole of Ireland through a blend of online and in store.
To service home delivery orders across the country, the brand has created a new Digital Hub at its Liffey Valley store. As well as updating the customer experience nationwide, this new hub will create new jobs in the Liffey Valley area, across store and warehouse staff and support staff.
Increasing investment in e-commerce is central to the overall growth strategy of B&Q and Digital Hub stores, which were rolled out across the UK in May 2020, are essential to B&Qs e-commerce growth, with stores at the centre. These new hub stores involve a reorganisation of existing in-store warehouse space and the creation of dedicated teams to manage orders, as well as the use of local delivery options to help speed up ‘last mile’ delivery.
The Digital Hub stores fulfil over 80% of B&Q’s orders and complement the centralised deliveries such as from showroom fulfilment centres, and delivery direct from vendors.
John Eason, Divisional Director for Ireland, said: “We are proud to reach the milestone of launching diy.ie for our Irish customers, as we expect this to be a service for which there’ll be huge demand. Our eight stores in the Republic of Ireland already help make it easier for many customers to improve their homes and we anticipate being able to help even more customers now that we can offer nationwide access to our fantastic range of home improvement products.”
Paddy Earnshaw, Customer and Digital Director, said: “We are absolutely committed to our customers in Ireland and are always assessing how best to improve our offering across the country. With increasing appetite for speed and convenience and a shift in customer buying habits to online, diy.ie represents a key moment in the expansion of B&Q’s e-commerce offering. Whether bought online or in store, a nail is never just a nail, it’s the start of something far bigger. Improving our homes has the power to improve the lives of our loved ones and ourselves too.”
