B&M completes relocation of Oldham store

B&M Oldham

There was a lot of excitement in Oldham today as a new B&M Home Store, with garden centre, was opened after a short relocation.

The latest addition to B&M's portfolio in the region comes as a boost to the local economy. The store has relocated onto a bigger unit in Gateway Retail Park, helping create further jobs to the already existing 60 prior to the move.

It follows hot on the heels of store openings in Ashton under Lyne and Burnage, creating 140 jobs in the county.

Visitors to the store will be able to browse a wide range of branded and own label goods, including toys, groceries, health & beauty and pet ranges, as well as an extensive DIY, decorating and furniture range.

The store also features a large 7,167 square foot garden centre.

As part of the opening day celebrations, B&M colleagues invited local charity, Pennine Pen Animal Rescue, to be their VIP for the day.

The charity was first established by Michael Waugh in 2001 due to his love for animals and passion for making sure that abandoned and unwanted animals were given a second chance to find a forever home. The team now work endlessly at their Rescue Centre, on Honeywell Lane, and three charity shops to ensure animals receive the best care and find a loving home.

The charity received £250 worth of B&M vouchers as a thank you for taking part and for all of their hard work in the local community, while local Mayor, Shadab Qumer, also helped with opening proceedings.

The store manager, Della Yates, said: “The team from Penine Pen really stood out for us as they go the extra mile for local people, we wanted to give them some VIP treatment as a thank you for all the hard work they do.

“We hope that our donation can help them to continue the great work they do.”

She also commented: The new team have been working really hard to get the store ready for opening day and we can’t wait to get the doors open Thursday and show customers their new B&M Chadderton.”

On Saturday 2nd September customers will also be able to enter the B&M Big Prize Bonanza, a free game show taking place at the store to carry the atmosphere throughout the day. Those who enter will be in with a chance of winning prizes including a Slow Cooker, B&M vouchers, Cadbury’s Chocolates and much more.
