The British Coatings Federation (BCF) has announced its finalists for the 2022 Coatings Care awards. The winners will be announced at the BCF’s Awards dinner at the Forest of Arden Marriott Hotel & Country Club on Thursday 13th of October. Information on the rest of the Awards categories is available here.

The Coatings Care Overall Best Performer Award is presented to the company that has demonstrated best-in-class performance across a range of key performance indicators, such as waste and recycling, and VOC emissions.

The companies shortlisted for this award are:

• Dacrylate Paints
• Farrow & Ball
• HMG Paints
• Teal & Mackrill
• Crown Paints (Hull)

The Coatings Care Progress Award is presented to the company that has made the most significant year-on-year performance improvement. BCF are grateful to The Paint Foundation for sponsoring this award.

The shortlisted companies for this award are:

• Becker Industrial Coatings
• Nippon Paint Automotive (UK)
• Steyport
• Pulse Printing Products
• PPG (Whitford)

The BCF Coatings Care environmental programme demonstrates that the UK coatings industry cares about the health and welfare of employees, the safe operation of processes, and shows determination to contribute actively to a sustainable environment. BCF have been tracking the manufacturing performance of BCF members for more than 20 years and, over that time, has recorded significant improvements in production efficiency and environmental performance over many of the 45 health, safety and environment key performance indicators.

The latest Coatings Care figures show record low levels of energy used in production as well as a significant decrease in production waste. 71% of production waste is now recycled, compared with just 17% in 1996. Accident rates are also at a record low and well below the latest UK Labour Force Survey, with zero RIDDOR reported dangerous occurrences or fires at BCF member sites in 2020.
