Basildon Bunnings opens for business
Home improvement and garden retailer Bunnings Warehouse officially opened its doors to the first store in Essex today (10 October 2017), creating over 25 full and part time jobs.
The new store, which is on the site of the former Homebase, London Road, Vange, is 57,000 square feet and offers customers more than 30,000 leading home improvement and garden products from a wide range of global market-leading brands. Other services include everything from paint mixing to key cutting, a garden centre, timber cutting and in-store D.I.Y. Workshops to learn a host of skills first hand.
Bunnings’ team members have already been busy ahead of today’s store opening, helping with projects in the Basildon area. These included creating a flowerbed, water feature and planted flower pots at St Luke’s Hospice, removing skirting and painting walls in the foyer of St Anne Line Primary School and creating a sensory garden at Polly’s Pad.
Basildon Complex Manager, Neil Potter, said: “All our team members have worked really hard to get the store ready for opening and have undertaken many hours of training to make sure we have the expertise to help customers with home or garden projects.”
To celebrate the opening, Jordan Banjo member of dance troupe Diversity is joining a welcome breakfast for team members.
Jordan said: “I’ve had a great time here today opening my local Bunnings Warehouse and meeting the team members. Just like Diversity, success is built on strong teamwork and everyone here is committed to making the store a hit.”
The store will host two weekends of events on 14/15 and 21/22 October, where customers will be able to enjoy a raft of family activities including the famous Bunnings Sausage Sizzle, face- painting, balloon modelling and even join Peppa Pig & George for a Story Time session (see in store for details).
Bunnings, the leading retailer of home improvement and garden products in Australia and New Zealand, acquired Homebase for £340million in February 2016 – and plans to invest a further £500million building a new Bunnings Warehouse business in the UK and Ireland over the next three to five years.
