Wyevale to close Coley Garden Centre

Wyevale Garden Centres has confirmed plans to close Coley Garden Centre in Calderdale.

The five-acre centre was founded in 1981 and was acquired by the Garden Centre Group in 1997.  

A Wyevale Garden Centres spokesperson said:

“Retail is a very dynamic business and, sometimes, a shop or a centre isn’t viable in the long term.

“After our careful, considered and routine study, we’ve decided that Coley Garden Centre will have to close.

“We’ve had a bid from residential developers, which will help support our ambitious plans for the business – but of course we’re trying our best to find alternative employment for our Coley colleagues at other locations where possible.

“We realise this may be unwelcome news but we couldn’t find a sustainable way forward for this centre whose employees, we know, are very much appreciated by our customers.

“We will work to provide our Coley colleagues with the full support they need.”

Coley Garden Centre will close on July 24th.
