Wren expansion to create 600 new jobs

Up to 600 new jobs are to be created in North Lincolnshire as part of a £40m expansion plan by a major kitchen company.

Wren Kitchens said it was investing in a new manufacturing facility at its head office in Barton-Upon-Humber, "to keep up with customer demand".

It employs 429 at the site after taking over an ex-nappy factory which closed in 2012 with the loss of 378 jobs.

The new jobs would be created between now and 2017, the company said.

Positions on offer would be across manufacturing, engineering, IT, customer services and training.

Finance Director Mark Pullan said: "The company has experienced unprecedented sales growth since Christmas and over the next few years will be looking to almost triple the number of retail showrooms in the UK from 54 to 150.

"As a result the company is now converting its 750,000 sq ft facility at Barton-Upon-Humber into a manufacturing plant. Company sales now exceed quarter of a billion pounds and the company employs 2,491 people, of which 1,352 are employed in the Humber Region."

Wren Kitchens previously said it was planning to expand its operations in Scunthorpe and Howden, in East Yorkshire, generating "150 full-time" posts at these sites.
